I am one of those lost souls who actually liked The River. I don’t have previous experience with the “lost footage” genre so this seemed fresh to me. I like that it was spooky and each episode was really different. It felt like Lost complete with a smoke monster in the first episode and The Blair Witch Project complete with creepy green night scenes. The last two episodes is where the series faltered. For some reason the zombie episode rubbed people the wrong way. The death and rebirth of the son seemed like an extra story for no good reason. The season should have ended with finding the father in a cocoon but the writers went to the more is more school of thought and found themselves canceled. I would have watched another season.
