What a fun season! Just when I thought I’d had seen enough and just when I thought I’d had enough, season four of Chuck pulled out fresh and fun stories.

Though I was extremely disappointed at the death of Scott Bakula as Chuck’s father, the addition of Linda Hamilton was perfect. She was a perfect shade of grey and as kick-ass as ever. She even got a chance to say “Come with me if you want to live.” There were geek-squees worldwide.

The guest stars this season were more awesome than Captain Awesome. I knew I was going to love this season when Isaiah Mustafa showed up as a Greta. Summer Glau was also a Greta and went head to head with Casey. It was great knife-wielding fun. Other great appearances were Morgan Fairchild, Robert Englund, Harry Dean Stanton, Lou Ferrigno; even Nicole Ritchie was impressive. My favorite has to be Timothy Dalton. I’ve had a thing for him every since his he was a Time Lord on Doctor Who.

As I mentioned before, I got a little bored with Chuck after season three. The back and forth with Chuck and Sarah had become predictable and tedious. Now that they have finally admitted their love for each other and the relationship is no longer secret they are a less painful couple to watch. They were entering Clark/Lana territory and that is NEVER good. The only secret now is only from Ellie. For awhile, she didn’t know that Chuck was spying now she does. She’s also pregnant which also made her character fresh and interesting as her whining about Chuck’s safety got tiresome.

I also miss the geek antics. We’ve gotten plenty of nerd jokes but none of them as funny as the antics in previous seasons. I’d hoped for another Jeffster performance and video.

To recap, Chuck went through hell and high water to find his mother only to not know if she was good or evil. His mom took the Intersect away, he went through a bunch of stuff to get it back but none of it worked. He finds out that his mom is a good guy but is working deep undercover to protect her family. A computer sent by his dad had a file on it that reactivated the Intersect. Now Chuck can go back to his normal crime fighting ways.

After a good showing in the fourth season, the real question is does Chuck have enough material, interest and fan loyalty to get a fifth season?

Chuck airs Mondays 8/7c on NBC.
