It’s been a whole year since we’ve heard that soulful theme song to True Blood. Upon hearing it, I couldn’t help but collapse back in my seat and think, “Oh yeah, that’s the stuff.” It’s been a rough year of canceled shows. Quality fillers such as Vampire Diaries are excellent place holders but just can’t match True Blood‘s level of delectable depravity and debauchery.
In the episode premiere ‘She’s Not There’, we start with Sookie hanging out with Bill Lumbergh… I mean her grand dad in fairy land. It all goes to hell fast and Sookie barely escapes back to the real world that is Bon Temps. For her, 15 to 20 minutes has passed for us it’s been a long 13 months. Bill has become King of Lousianna. Eric has bought Sookie’s house in the hopes that she will return so that he can say “Sookie is mine!” Sam’s brother Tommy is hanging out with Foyt’s mom (seriously, wtf?). Sam is part of a shape shifter help group with 3 other shifters. Jason is still feeding “the cats”. Sheriff Andy is hooked on V. Arlene thinks her baby is evil. Jesus and Lafayette are hanging out at a magic store with a Wiccan coven that brought a bird back to life. Hoyt and Jessica are having marital issues; she won’t cook for Hoyt and she has her eyes on another boy toy. The biggest and best change is that Tara finally took out those 90’s braids and got a modern and hot new hairdo. On the flip side, she’s joined a fight club and now has a girlfriend. Not exactly what I was hoping for the character but at least she can fight now and won’t be a victim this season… I hope.
If you subscribe to HBO then you have FREE access to HBOGo and you have the opportunity to see the second episode of the season now! You can watch from your computer, iPad or iPhone. I’ve watched the second episode, ‘You Smell Like Dinner’, because I couldn’t help myself. Stop reading now if you don’t want spoilers!
Seriously, I’m about to spoil the second episode so shoo!
Bill became King because he had Queen Sofie killed by firing squad at the direction of Nan. We find out that Eric not only bought Sookie’s house but has built himself an underground sleeping chamber. Jessica succumbed to her desire for a boy toy and drank his blood in the restroom. I wonder if Hoyt will want to become a vampire to hold Jessica’s interest. Tommy has located Sam’s shifter support group and claims he wants to patch things up. Sam has a new mysterious girlfriend. She seems like bad news but I’ll give her a shot. Jason was kidnapped and tied to a bed because Crystal wants to turn him into a werecat so that she can mate with him. It’s kinda cool that Jason will be getting a super power that is if he can survive panthers eating his stomach! Eric confronts the wiccan group lead by the powerful witch Marnie. He threatens the groups life but ends up with his memory wiped by Marnie who seems to not know when people or things are inhabiting her. Sookie finds Eric wandering the streets with his shirt off. She’ll probably end up taking care of him. Arlene’s son made her eye bleed, then laughed about it. Do we know the son’s name and did she name him Damon? Tara has been lying to her girlfriend. Her girlfriend thinks her name is Toni and that she went to her grandmother’s funeral. We all know it’s not going to end well because her girlfriend is going to turn out to be a stalker and confront her in Bon Temps. Yes, that’s pure speculation but it’s a good guess. Tara may also have something going on with the crazy fairies. When she first appeared to Sookie, the evil fairy godmother jumped out at Sookie. Bill is banging his “security guard” and Sookie walks in to see them zipping and buckling up. Did anyone else wonder if Bill was going to turn her head around?
I’m off to go re-watch these two episodes. What did you think about the True Blood double premiere?
