Warehouse 13 seems to be successfully and quietly chugging along. Because of Syfy’s ridiculous streaming policies, I had to watch each episode one month after it aired. This prevented me from enjoying with other fans and prevented me from getting a true gauge of fellow fans interest.
Even with all that baggage, I managed to enjoy this season. We have 3 Star Trek actors as regular guests: Kate Mulgrew, René Auberjonois, Faran Tahir, Brent Spiner, and Jeri Ryan. Season 4 saw the introduction of the Brotherhood who guarded an artifact called the Astrolabe. Arty used it to turn back time and save the lives of Micha, Pete, Claudia, Mrs. Frederic, and H.G. Wells. Because of this he released an evil on the world. The evil initially seemed to be Brent Spiner as Brother Adrian but turned out to be Arty Nielsen as Tyler Durden. Arty was the evil the whole time and the team had to go to great lengths to neutralize Evil Arty without killing Arty Actual.
There was also the introduction of a new agent this season but after 2 episodes she disappeared. Leena died. Being as Leena didn’t do much except for catch a spidey sense here and there, I’m sorry to say it but her character isn’t much of a loss. Overall, it was a decent enough season. I enjoyed it and had no problem with it.
Warehouse 13 returns April 2013 on Syfy. It streams for free ONE MONTH after airing on syfy.com and Hulu.
As much as I still like this show’s character personalities, character interaction, dialogue, humor, performances, casting, and to a certain extent, even the story arc, I can’t stand the artifacts. That complicates things since that’s what the show is all about. Especially this season, the artifacts have just been too powerful & too magical.
I actually stopped watching partway through season 4.0 because of it and let the last four episodes sit on the DVR for a few months. I just recently forced myself to finish them off. Same dilemma. I hate the artifacts. I like everything else. That might just be enough for me to watch 1.5 more seasons (my guess is it will end after 5 seasons like almost all other shows).
Eddie McClintock, Saul Rubinek, Aaron Ashmore, and Anthony Michael Hall were at Dragon*Con this year (in fact, I think they were the last panel I went to on Monday). Eddie McClintock is a lot in real life like his character Pete is. At the beginning of the panel, the moderator had to give Eddie some kind of paint-by-number thing because during a previous panel he doodled all over a hotel table cloth…in permanent marker. So, during our panel, he was attentive and engaged, but he was looking down most of the time because he was multi-tasking with the paint set. One of the last audience members to ask a question asked Eddie what he was painting, and he said that he would give it to her when he was done. Sure enough, at the end of the panel, he did. :)
Great story. I actually like the artifacts. They are getting a bit more wacky but we can’t have a show without them.
