I had NO interest in watching Alcatraz but did so because others were enjoying it. I thought it was a weak premise at best and the slow start didn’t help. I was bored for most of the season. Five episodes in I started to warm up to the characters and the mythology. Just when I thought the show was gaining traction and could have been a great Fringe replacement, Fox announced that it was canceling the show (Typical Fox right?!).
The only think I can say positive about the show is that it looked great.
Alcatraz aired on FOX but is now canceled.

Alcatraz started off a little slow, but the story arc and the characters gradually got more interesting. The worst part is how much of a cliff-hanger it ended on. I don’t think a cancelled Fox show has ended on that big of a cliff-hanger since John Doe.
I can’t even remember the ending. Was it the discovery of the room behind the wall? Yes. That was getting mysterious and grabbed my attention. Also, I’m now glad I didn’t watch John Doe.
I think the room behind the wall was part of it, and I think there was someone from the past in there too. But, the big cliff-hanger part was that our main cop character Rebecca was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound. If I remember correctly, it was her own grandfather that shot her (an intriguing reverse-spin on the Grandfather Paradox), and she flat-lined the moment before the episode (and, therefore, the series) ended.
Ah well, I’m not broken up about it.
