How is it that a geeky show about all sorts of nerdy thing is one of the most popular shows with high ratings and will be entering its fifth season?

I’m not sure why The Big Bang Theory is popular outside of our crowd but I’m glad it is. As a geek, nerd or geek/nerd adjacent how could you not love it? Howard uses a robot arm to masturbate. Sheldon prepares for The Singularity and plans to have his brain uploaded to a computer. When that goes awry, Sheldon and Amy have a tiff and he starts collecting cats. Wolowitz needs security clearance for a new job but is sabotaged by Sheldon (guest starring Eliza Dushku). Wil Wheaton shows up at a Raiders of the Lost Ark screening with extra footage, of course it was sabotaged by Sheldon. Whether it’s dressing up in costumes, getting felt up by a wealthy yet elder patroness, having their World of Worldcraft account hacked or having Star Trek sex games, the guys are always into hilarity.

The main downer of the show is watching Penny sit along the sidelines and watch Leonard and Priya have a relationship while Penny is just… there. It’s strange how Priya is ashamed to tell her parents about Leonard. It was hilarious how Sheldon went all “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield” and threatened to send Priya’s parents an email about her relationship with Leonard if Leonard didn’t sign a new roommate agreement. Always be black on the right side.

Howard and Bernadette’s relationship is cute. I like the Jewish/Catholic tension. Since Melissa Rauch voices Howard’s mother’s voice, it will be interesting to see if we will ever meet Howard’s mom. Also, I hope the couple gets over their speed bump. Maybe Howard will get a PhD next season.

The biggest twist happened in the season finale. Penny and Raj got drunk and had sex… IN LEONARD’S BED! I wonder what the repercussions will be. I’ll see next year…
