I love television. I may even watch too much TV. I say bollocks to all of that. I watch what I want to see and am sometimes “forced” to watch some things just to have a discussion about it on my podcast, Sci-Fi Party Line. I mostly watch science fiction but sometimes, some shows are just so good that I watch them even if they aren’t sci-fi.
Let’s start with the science fiction shows: (In no particular order)
Supernatural
Fringe
Lost
Doctor Who
Big Bang Theory
FlashForward
Dollhouse
Dexter
Sanctuary
Stargate: Universe
Warehouse 13
Eureka
Sarah Jane Adventures
V
Heroes
Non- science- fiction TV shows:
Project Runway
Legend of the Seeker
Merlin
Castle
Burn Notice
True Blood
Psych
Monk
Law & Order: Criminal Intent
White Collar
Vampire Diaries
Shows that are recently canceled OR that I may catch every once in awhile:
Torchwood
Charlie Jade
Defying Gravity
Criminal Minds
Numb3rs
All CSIs
I wonder if I forgot to list something? Caprica hasn’t aired yet so I won’t add that just yet.
looks like my list. oi! I don’t want to think about it.
Ha! Sometimes it’s too much and sometimes I can’t get enough.
Do you even sleep?? hehe You’ve got it BAD!
Of your list, these are the ones I have seen every ep:
Fringe
FlashForward
Dollhouse
Dexter (Just started a few weeks ago, not every ep)
V
Heroes
True Blood
My whole Saturday has been catching up on shows so far. Gonna get some fresh air later on, :D ,,,and oh yeah, I sleep.
I’m the same way. I love TV too, though I’ve forced myself to cut down some recently.
My Sci-Fi List:
– Chuck
– Defying Gravity (almost certainly cancelled)
– Dollhouse (watch begrudgingly)
– FlashForward
– Lost
– Sanctuary
– Star Wars: The Clone Wars (but barely ranks above background noise)
– Stargate: Universe
– V
– Warehouse 13 (though the show will have to improve some to impress me)
My Non-Sci-Fi List:
– Brothers & Sisters (only thing on Sunday nights)
– Cougar Town
– Glee (not as consistently good as the hype implies)
– House
– Rescue Me (though this past season felt very uneven)
– Scrubs
– South Park
– Survivor (though the current season sucks)
Considering that’s just the main prime stuff and doesn’t include shows I catch occasionally (like Mythbusters), PBS stuff (New Yankee Workshop, This Old House, Ask This Old House, and occasionally Woodwright’s Shop), repeats of old favorites on cable (The Practice, Gilmore Girls, and occasionally The West Wing, SG-1, and ST:TNG), and rewatching shows on DVD (Lost & Babylon 5) — I probably still watch too much TV.
If you’re watching Heroes, you *are* watching too much TV too. ;) I’ve never seen Dexter, but from what I’ve heard about it, can it really be called sci-fi?
Some of the crap that goes on in that lab definitely makes it a science fiction of sorts.
Cougar Town? Really? I’m embarrassed for you. :P
Cougar Town is by the same guy that created Scrubs, so I’m holding out hope that it will improve. But, so far, it has two problems compared to Scrubs:
(1) It doesn’t have the same “heart” that Scrubs has. As funny as Scrubs is, it still has the bittersweet drama of hospital life mixed in. It’s a comedy that sometimes has no choice to address life & death stuff too. So far, Cougar Town is just about sex & getting older.
(2) Scrubs has the advantage of having a lot of its zany humor go on inside J.D.’s head, and he’s got an overactive imagination. Cougar Town doesn’t use that same device. Everything zany that happens on that show has to happen in real life, and real life is rarely that zany. (I’d use a another word for “zany,” but I just woke up. The thesaurus in my head hasn’t quite kicked in yet.)
Another problem with Cougar Town is that it tries a little too hard to fill every single moment with something funny. It ends up feeling kind of spastic. But, as I said, I have faith in Bill Lawrence, so I’ll keep giving it a shot.
I must also be some kind of fancy bot, since we share the same shows to a large degree. My list is your list with a few of the shows you watch cut out.
Fringe
Lost
Doctor Who
Flash Forward
Dollhouse
Dexter
Stargate: Universe
Warehouse 13
Eureka
V
Heroes
Legend of the Seeker
Merlin
True Blood
Man Vs Wild
Vampire Diaries
Torchwood
Defying Gravity
Man vs. Wild…. I’d still be watching Survivor Man if it was still on. I couldn’t get into MvW. I’m not going to try. I have too many shows as is! :P
Add Caprica and Smallville.
