I like Warehouse 13 but this season didn’t pull me in as much as the first season. I was genuinely entertained but now wowed. The big bad HG Wells introduction had lots of bang but fizzled over the course of the season and ultimately led to a very disappointing end. A recurring character died, we found a buried Warehouse in Egypt… and some other stuff. The actors are fine but the writers need to step it up.
…Then there’s the cancellation rumor. Artie Nielsen made a gaffe and called the season finale a series finale. I think it was just a British/English type if thing. We call them seasons. Brits call them series. Artie isn’t British so I’m not sure why he’s confused.
I think Warehouse 13 is safe. If anything, Haven will get canceled before Warehouse 13. That’s just bitchy speculation so feel free to ignore it.
Warehouse 13 will return in December for a holiday special on Syfy.
The first season of Warehouse 13 didn’t gel with me at all. From the very beginning, I wasn’t too interested in the overall concept of the show, and it rarely held my attention beyond being background noise. But after the season 2 premiere, I actually found myself looking forward to every episode. I like Pete’s sense of humor, the snappy dialogue they give Claudia (especially in the episode about the college wrestlers), the growing father/daughter type relationship between Artie & Claudia, the general character development of all the characters, and the cool guest stars & recurring characters, especially Paula Garces (nice hair!) as Pete’s girlfriend and Lindsay Wagner as a Warehouse doctor.
I have mixed feelings about H.G. Wells. Her introduction seemed a little weird, it never made total sense why Myka and the Regents came to trust H.G. so easily after what she did to MacPherson, and I don’t like that she ended up being the “big bad” in the season finale nor the lame way they went about making her the big bad. But, I think the actress did a great job, I think she added something to the show, aaaannd…she’s kind of hot (and British). Ultimately, I would have preferred her character stay on the redemption track and become a regular character in season 3.
When I realized the show wasn’t going to take itself too seriously, I stopped too. Some of the things I enjoy most in TV shows is witty dialogue, comic relief, character development, and chemistry between the characters. While the show still has flaws, including the basic concept, it’s improving in all the other areas I appreciate the most.
And, you’re right, it’s probably safer than Haven. I was even less impressed with Haven’s beginning, and there are six new episodes on my DVR I still can’t work up the willpower to watch yet.
And, speaking of other shows, thanks for helping to turn me on to Eureka. I now regret missing out on the first three seasons, but with the new beginnings in season 4, this was a great time to come in late. Eureka is a really good show.
